August 30, 2008: The Motherlode Travelling Musical Revue gives their finale performance Lytton as part of the annual Riverfest celebrations. A joint project with the Newman and Wright Theatre Company (Theatre Royal, Barkerville), this production was a hit from Sparwood to Vancouver and from Barkerville to Hope. The five-player company performed dozens of times in 60 communities in front of thousands of people, promoting the Gold Rush/Spirit Trails corridor, First Nations Reconciliation and the multi-cultural nature of the gold rush. The troupe was also part of the CP Rail/BC150 “Spirit Train” project, providing entertainment in communities along the CP corridor. By the time they gave their final performance, they had travelled 17,000km. The project was funded by the BC150 Secretariat, Canadian Heritage and New Pathways to Gold Society with support from the Northern Development Initiative Trust.
