August 18, 2013: (YALE HISTORIC SITE) We’re celebrating a decade of building on the New Pathways to Gold with a look back at significant dates in the Society’s history. Today we’re remembering August 18, 2013, when NPTGS Co-chair Terry Raymond was the MC at festivities marking the 150th anniversary of the Cariboo Waggon Road in Historic Yale. Highlights included the rededication of the Cariboo Waggon Road plaque and interpretive sign and the official opening of the new picnic area. The refurbished site was a community enhancement joint-project between Parks Canada, Emil Anderson Maintenance, the Ministry of Transportation, Province of BC and the Yale and District Historical Society.

The Sunday ceremonies were the culmination of a three-day celebration which also saw a tour of some of the intact portions of the Cariboo Waggon Road organized by the Hope Mountain Centre, the R.E. Living History re-enactors camp and panning for gold next to the Yale Museum.
